A Total Round Up on “labels”

By sizes paper, 10 January, 2010, No Comment

Pieces of paper, polymer, cloth, metal, acrylic plastic or other material affixed to a container or article, on which is printed a legend, information concerning the product, addresses, etc is called Label. There are versatile uses of labels such as product identification, name tags, advertising, warnings, and other communication. Labels which are printed through a digital printing are called digital labels. Label also has special applications like RFID tags, security printing, and sandwich process labels.

Labels can be supplied separately on a roll and on a sheet. Most of the labels are pre-printed by the manufactures. Others have printing applied manually or automatically at the time of application. Some labels have protective overcoats, laminates, or tape to cover them after the final print is applied. This is sometimes before application and sometimes after.

Types of Featured labels

Piggyback labels: The top layer of such kind of labels can be a removable label that can be applied elsewhere, which may change the message or marking on the remaining label underneath. This is often used on Express mail envelopes.

Tags/Asset labels: Tags/Asset labels are generally containing a barcode for electronic identification. And it is also used for marking fixed and non fixed assets. Laser labels: are come in many particular shapes, sizes and materials. Such kinds of labels are generally die cut on 8.5″ x 11″ sheets.

Inkjet labels: Inkjet labels are also die cut on 8.5″ x 11″ sheets and a4 size and come in different sizes, shapes and materials. It is made to accept ink and dye from your inkjet printer. One of the very modern inkjet label material stocks is waterproof printable inkjet material commonly used for soap or shower gel containers.

Security labels: Security labels are used for authentication, theft reduction and protection against counterfeit and are commonly used on ID cards, credit cards, packaging, and products from CDs to electronics to clothing. These also used for anti-counterfeiting, brand protection, temper-evident seals etc.

Anti-Microbial labels: With the growth in hospital acquired infections such as MRSA and E-Coli the use of Antimicrobial labels in infection sensitive areas of hospitals are helping in combating these types of microbes.

There are also Block out and radioactive labels. Radioactive labels are related with chemical security.

Printer Accessories

By sizes paper, 10 January, 2010, No Comment

Accessories of printers are an important part of the whole package. You cannot only buy the main instrument; you also need its accompanying items. On the market today, all stores sell you the whole package so that all you have to do is install it and start using. Every product comes with its own accessories from the company itself and, more importantly, in case there is any problem with the product in case of wear and tear of the copier, the parts should be available for the change.

So it can be said that when you are thinking about buying a digital copier or a printer, one aspect you should consider is whether the product has accessories easily available or not. You should be able to change any part of the printer easily in case of damage and without any unnecessary delay. There are many servicing outfits that can help you with printer maintenance. These servicing stations will replace the required parts of your printer for you. All you have to do is contact them and they will solve all your problems for you.

As there is a demand for printers and copiers, a large number of accessories are also flooding the market today. Accessories can greatly enhance the performance of your copier and printer, but before choosing for your printer you should carefully survey the market and all that is available.

Some important accessories that are required for your printer are listed below.

• USB Cables – A USB cable is used to connect your printer to your PC. It is useful to have this accessory so that when your printer is attached by USB, you can directly send documents to be printed within minutes, thus increasing efficiency and saving time.

• Adapters – Adapters are required for connectivity. Adapters include normal adapters, adapter cards and interface cards, which are used with the printer. If you want a smooth functioning printer, then you will require an adapter. If you attach this to your copier, then it will function better and give you better results.

• Memory – It is sometimes crucial to have memory backup for your printers. If you deal with very important documentation, this is a good idea. Also, if you print a large number of documents that might have a lot of images, then your printer might hang. In this case, all you need to do is increase the RAM of your printer.

• Hard Drive – A printer comes with an inbuilt storage space. If you are going to use your printer very extensively, you should consider about increasing the hard drive space.

• Paper Handling Devices – The printer comes with inbuilt paper handling accessories. These are the bins that hold the paper that is being used for printing. A larger bin will make sure that you don’t have to keep refilling.

• Network Print Servers – You can get a printer that is compatible with network computers so you can take prints from any of the connected printers anywhere in the building.

• Software – There are many types of software available on the market that enhances the performance of your printer. Though, before choosing one, make sure that it is compatible with your printer and operating system.

• Printer Ribbons – Printer ribbons are required to deliver the ink for your prints. There are many companies that make good ribbons, but for optimum and colour use, make sure your ribbon has the YMCK markings. If you have a dual side printer, then you should opt for an YMCKK ribbon. The second K stands for the black component, which is used to print on the reverse of the document.

If you are looking for printer services, your best bet would be Copywell, which is an Australian-based company that can help you with all your printer problems. For more info click www.copywell.com.au.

Types Of Paper In Catalog Printing

By sizes paper, 9 January, 2010, No Comment

There are many things that are important to catalog design. Your images must be sharp and appealing. Your text and even the font you use for the text is important. The cover page design and the design of your catalog’s product pages all play important roles in designing a catalog that will bring in new customers and sales.
However none of the things mentioned above are more important than the type of paper you will choose to print your catalog on. The “feel” of your catalog is important to your potential customers. The longer they have your catalog in their hands, the more product they will buy. In this article I will go over some of the many paper choices you have to print your catalog on.
First you need to decide if the cover will be the same paper as the rest of your catalog. In most cases the cover will be of heavier weight then the interior pages.
Second you will need to choose coated or uncoated paper for printing your catalog. Coated paper is for the glossier layouts and uncoated is more economical, but can still display your products well.
So you have two things to consider first, “Will it be glossy paper or not?”, “Will my cover be the same weight as the interior pages of my catalog?”
Once you have answered those two questions the next decision is what the weight of the paper will be. Most catalogs go with 60, 70, or 80 lb. weights. So it would be 60lb uncoated or coated, 70 lb. Coated or uncoated. 80 lb. Paper usually is only chosen for 80 lb. Weight and above. Also, not all paper is measured by weight. Some is measured by thickness or “points”.
Now the above is really over-simplified. There are other types of special paper you can choose from. There is textured paper, photographic paper, and other more expensive paper to choose from if you are selling a high-end or expensive product.
There are also other considerations when choosing the paper your catalog will be printed on. Such as the method of printing you are going to choose.
If you are going to have your catalog printed on a hot-set web press, then you can choose uncoated or coated paper. The heat will dry the ink as it prints your catalog. If your printer uses a cold-set web press then the ink air-dries and is absorbed into the paper. A cold-set web press cannot print on coated paper.
If your printer uses a sheet-fed press then you can choose from any of the high quality papers they have available. The same goes for printers that do digital printing.
It will depend a lot on the printer you choose. You need to find out what type of paper is available and you will want to see samples of the paper to get a better idea of which one you want to print your catalog on. Also ask your printer to suggest the different types of paper they think will be the best for your catalog.
Here is a list of some of the types of paper your printer may have available for you to choose from or may be able to order for you.
Dull Coated Paper
Matte Coated Paper
Glossy Coated Paper
Antique Paper
Vellum Paper
Wove Paper
Smooth Paper
Felt Paper
Linen Paper
Fiber-added Paper
Laid Paper
Parchment
Four things determine the quality of the paper, opacity, brightness, finish, and ppi. (Pounds per inch) Brightness affects the contrast and brilliance of the paper. It affects how your text will stand out on the pages of your catalog. Opacity is how much your ink is visible from the back of the page. If a paper is too opaque, your text and images from one page will be seen through onto another page that your customer is trying to read. The finish affects the feel of the pages and also how your images will look. The lower grade finishes produce grainier images while high quality finishes sharpen the look of your images.
Ask your printer to provide you with samples or swatch booklets and a price list for printing your catalog on the various types of paper before you decide. You know what your budget is and paper is only one of the expenses you have to consider.

How To Write, Publish And Sell A Manual From Information You Already Know

By sizes paper, 9 January, 2010, No Comment

Today, there are hundreds of enterprising men and women who
write simple research papers (known in the self-publishing
industry as MANUALS) and sell them by mail.

In the article that follows, I’ll show you how you can do the
same. I’ll show you how to select a subject, how to research it,
how to write it, how to get it printed, and how to sell it.

I’ll show you the four ways to sell it.

If you are new to manual selling, I’ll show you which of the
four ways is the best for you. That said, I hope you will read
what follows very carefully and very thoroughly.

There are no catches. I have nothing more to sell to you (unless
you want to read some of the other manuals which I have written).

I hope the information which follows can be of real benefit to
you.

That is why I have written it!

Exactly what is a manual?

A manual can be called a booklet, a pamphlet, a report, a
newsletter, a guide, an instruction manual, a plan, a
manuscript, etc.

A manual is simply an easy-to-understand report which shows the
reader “How To” do something that he does not already know.

Most manuals show the reader … How to start or expand a hobby;
How to develop new abilities or qualities; How to start a new
business or expand an old one; How to prepare for a new career;
How to make or save money; How to solve personal problems; How
to spend leisure time.

A well written manual is authoritative, factual, and helpful. It
should be written in simple, easily understood language.

It can be anything from a brief two-page photocopied report to a
professionally printed book bound in a hardback cover.

People who purchase manuals by mail are interested in the
information they contain. Seldom do they care what brand of
paper the information is printed on.

What kinds of manuals are now being sold by mail?

Pick up almost any magazine at a news stand that carries
classified advertising and you will find ads written by people
who are selling their manuals by mail.

Here are sample ads from magazines lying on the desk.

“Be secure, confident, successful! Learn the secret of personal
power. $2.00″

“Secrets of the Spirit World! Only $2.00 Post-paid!”

“Traffic Tickets? Beat them, step by step method. $1.95″.

“Fluorescent Tubes Rejuvenated at no cost. Instructions $4.00″

“Why grow old and die? Li Chung Yun lived 256 years. You could
too”.

“Guide to Witches Covens – $12.00″

“Learning Bridge? Send $12.95 for 20 page guide.”

“Learn the secret of making every dress you sew fit perfectly.
Only $3.00″.

“10 Wonder Working Prayers. Enrich, Strengthen Your Life. $2.50″.

“Home Made Cheese. Hard, soft and cottage. Make it yourself!
Complete instructions, recipes, $2.00″

“Peterborough Area Job Opportunities $2.00″

“Ship in Bottle. Instructions. Drawings. $3.00″

If you can produce a “How To” manual that is novel, interesting
and genuinely helpful, you can do what the advertisers above
have done. You can print it yourself and sell it by mail!

What should you write about?

You should write:

* only on subjects that really interest you, and * on subjects
that you already know something about.

For example, if you just love to cook, write a manual on cooking.

If people like the first manual they buy from you, they will buy
other manuals in the future, as long as they are on the same
basic subject.

If you write on a subject that really does not interest you very
much, you will be bored to death by the time you get to your
third manual.

Ask yourself – what do I do with my spare time? Write a manual
about that!

How do you research the manual?

Make yourself an expert on the subject!

Talk to friends and neighbors. Ask questions. Read books,
newspapers, and magazines on the subject. Ask your librarian for
suggestions. As you read, keep notes on everything. When you
have read everything you could lay your hands on, sit down and
study your notes. Read them over slowly and carefully. Then lay
the notes aside and think about the whole subject for a day or
two. You will be amazed at what your mind will do with the
subject if you have researched it thoroughly. How do you write
it?

Here is a tip from a professional writer.

Sit down and pretend that you are a person who knows absolutely
nothing about the subject.

Write down fifteen questions that such a person might ask you.
Then write out, in your own words, the answers to the fifteen
questions.

Do not try to be literary!

When you are finished, lay it aside for a day or two. Then
re-read it with a red pencil, crossing out all unnecessary words
and sentences, inserting a new point here and there.

Rewrite the whole thing, and you will be amazed to discover that
your manual is ready to be published!

How do you get it printed?

Type it as neatly as possible onto A4 white typing paper. Single
space it, leaving two lines between each paragraph.

Take it to a local copy/print shop, who will make you however
many copies of it, very reasonably, within 24 hours usually.

If you have more than four pages, have it printed on both sides
of the paper. It will lower your printing costs slightly, and
save you extra postage in the future.

To give your manual a professional touch, have it printed on
canary yellow, pink, or light green paper.

How do you sell it?

1. Direct from ads in magazines and tabloid papers.

If economically possible, sell it for $2.00 or $3.00 per copy.
Write a brief, eye catching classified ad, asking those
interested to send their orders directly to you.

If your ad is novel, believable, and of genuine interest, you
will be surprised at how many people will do this.

If your manual is about stamp collecting, advertise it in the
stamp collecting papers.

If it is about astrology, advertise it in the Astrology
magazines- to do otherwise is fatal.

Be sure to run your ad in at least three issues. If you have
never sold manuals by mail, I sincerely suggest you use this
method.

2. Advertise for Inquiries.

If your manual is quite elaborate, and must be sold for $5.00 or
more, use this method. Write a brief, tempting ad describing
your manual, and offer free details. Then mail literature
describing the manual to those who answer the ads. Don’t expect
more than one enquiry in ten to buy it from you.

Here are recent ads placed by manual writers who use this method:

“Never Won Anything? Anyone can win sweepstakes contests! Free
details”.

“Troubled? God can help! Free information.”

“Overweight? I lost 53 pounds. Easily – Permanently. New Method.
Information Free”.

“Make money clipping newspapers at home in spare time. Details
free.”

3. Direct Mail.

If you have written a manual showing how to get your inventions
patented, you could purchase a list of amateur inventors, and
mail your sales literature to each individual on the list.

If you are lucky, you’ll sell your manual to about one person in
every twenty-five.

Direct mail can be very effective for experienced mail order
operators, but it is usually far too costly for the beginner.

It can easily cost you over two hundred and fifty dollars for
each one thousand letters you mail.

4. Selling through agents.

If you are willing to sell your manual in small wholesale
quantities, or if you are willing to drop ship manuals for mail
dealers, then you might find this the most effective way to
market your manuals.

Below are some ads placed by manual writers.

“Sell Health Books Mail Order! Write”

“Sell Books By Mail. Complete Dealer Set Up $2.00″

“Sell Books by Mail! 400% Profit”

“Free Newsletter! Sell Books by Mail. We wholesale/dropship”

Some of the above ads have been running for over ten years,
indicating that this could be a very successful way to market
your manuals.

Assessing Your Office Printing Needs

By sizes paper, 9 January, 2010, No Comment

Every business needs to have printing facilities to be able to function. Look around any office environment and you are sure to find a printer and a copier – essential equipment for day to day operation. But how do you determine what printing and copying equipment you actually need in your office? What are the most economical systems for your needs? Which office copier will handle your copy volume demand without coughing it’s mechanics across the office floor? On many occasions office printing and copying equipment is selected by opinion, without much consideration of the facts.

When considering replacing the office printing and copying equipment, a more informed approach will help select the correct equipment to suit your needs. Draw up a check-list for your requirements and ask others to check that your have listed the facilities that they need – as well as ensuring that you haven’t included benefits that your office will not need. Do you need larger paper sizes, colour or black and white images, networked into the office workstations or computer server, etc?

If you already have a copier installed, then check the monthly counter readings from the machine to give you information on how many copies are being produced each month or annually. Calculate how much copy paper your company consumes, between the copier counter and the copy paper consumption, you should be able to work out an average number of copies produced per month.

Do you have a number of individual office printers scattered about your offices? If so, then these are also adding to your print and copy requirements – as well as adding to the running costs of your printing facilities. If these are inkjet printers, then the cost of each page produced is probably disproportionately high compared to other printing methods. Laser printers, although cheaper to run than inkjets, will also have a relatively high cost per page. Having determined your copy and print volume requirements and the facilities needed from an office copier/printer, then you’re better equipped for starting your search for the most appropriate machine for your office. You may wish to consider including a networked copier / printer / fax / scanner in your considerations, giving a central point at which the office requirement for printing and copying is centralised – creating a cost saving return across all users (this technology is commonly called a Business Hub).

To assist with your decision making process, many office equipment specialists are now able to perform an analysis of the costs of operating your existing office print and copy facilities through bespoke software technology. This service will give you the information to make informed choices to obtain the most advantageous copying and printing equipment to cover your everyday needs – and it is normally done without cost or obligation. If you need assistance in calculating the number of copies/prints each of your office machines is producing, they can install print auditing software onto your system for you. This will generate a detailed report and costings of your present printing volumes. Business By Technology (Manchester and Coventry) offers this service free of charge and without obligation.

In the longer term, this same software technology can be installed onto your office system to provide a constant feedback of office print and copy usage, along with relevant costs. A good example for this software function is that before you had telephone call handling systems (PBX’s), nobody knew where their call volume went. Once the PBX’s came along, the phone company could break down your calls on the billing. So you could analyse that a salesman with a high call volume would be expected, yet the guy in the warehouse with unusually high call volume would be questionable. Apply this situation to a company’s printing and copying consumption and you can see where the usage and wastage is occurring.

Many companies have saved significant amounts of money simply by applying this software to their office systems. In some cases, they have even discovered use of costly printing facilities that they didn’t even know they had!

Inkjet Printers — A Helpful Guide To Understanding This Technology

By sizes paper, 9 January, 2010, No Comment

Inkjet printers are one of the most common and effective printing technologies on the market today. There are many variations on this design in use for both commercial and private needs, although models used in the private sector use the same basic design and technologies.
What Makes an Inkjet Printer Work
Although there are many versions of inkjet printers, they all share some basic methods. One of the basic methods that an inkjet printer utilizes is to propel miniature drops of ink out of their nozzles and onto blank paper in such a way as to form a pattern that will end up in an image. Normally, the part of the printer that holds these nozzles, called the print head, will move quickly across the paper, spraying ink. Then the paper will be moved a small distance, and the printer will travel over the paper once again. An image is formed from the small lines of ink.
Using An Inkjet Printer
When you first purchase a printer, you will need to hook it up to your computer. The majority of people use either a USB port or a parallel port, which should match up to the proper port on your computer. Once it is plugged in the printer will need to be synched up with the computer, however, most modern operating systems will either do this automatically or provide directions.
After the printer has been installed properly, it will then be able to print your documents and pictures from any program. Every so often you will need to replace the print cartridge when the old one runs out of ink. Because of the fact that these printer cartridges vary from printer to printer, you should keep in mind that you need to purchase the proper one to fit your model. Installation should be very easy and instructions should be included in the owner’s manual.
Inkjet Printers Advantages and Disadvantages
Inkjet printers have various advantages over other printing technologies. Their functional operations are much cheaper and quieter, and they start up quicker than the majority of other printer technologies. The printers themselves are also often cheaper than other styles. The majority of them can output very high-quality images, where the majority of other printer technologies do not have this type of ability.
Unfortunately, inkjet printers often have trouble creating these higher quality images unless given specially treated paper, which is often costs more. The ink cartridges can also be very expensive, and are often incompatible with other printer models. The heads of an inkjet printer can sometimes be prone to clogging and flimsy as well.
In conclusion, due to the fact that inkjets use water-soluble ink, the output onto the paper has the potential to be smudged by even the smallest amount of water. The images have the potential to be blurred even by highlighter markers.

With the collections and paper clay, create a 3D sculpture of little dream house of daddy.

The most important awareness for our children while doing above crafts is the gratitude and love feeling towards dad. Hope you can create anyone of them for father day!

How Do Laser Printers Work?

By sizes paper, 8 January, 2010, No Comment

It is one of those things that most of us really don’t think about. How does a laser printer work? Well, you click “print” and it works, right? For most of us that is all we need to know or would care to know. But, in reality, it is something you should an understanding of if you are going to be buying a laser printer for the office network or shelling out a decent amount of cash.

Chemistry isn’t that bad

Most people have horror stories about chemistry class, me included. But when it comes to figuring out how a laser printer and chemistry work together it is not all that bad. Whether it is a HP, Epson, Cannon or Dell laser printer it works the same way, positive charges and negative charges. The old saying actually applies, opposites attract.

Getting charged

Within the laser printer there is a drum that slowly turns. As it turns it is given a charge by a wire (charge corona wire) or, in some cases, another roller. After the drum is charged the printer shoots a laser at the surface of the drum discharging the drum in certain places. These places end up looking like letters and numbers on the drum.

To get these discharged letters and number shapes off the drum and onto a piece of paper the laser printer covers the discharged shapes with charged toner. It then hooks them up with an oppositely charged piece of paper. As makes sense the toner is attracted to the paper and there it is, toner on paper. If you have ever changed a toner cartridge you can attest that the stuff loves to attach itself to just about anything. The process so far just makes the toner attach itself in an ordered fashion or letter and numbers.

Getting toned

The process is just about complete at the most basic level. What needs to happen to finish off the process is for the toner to be fused into the paper permanently. To accomplish this the laser printer rolls the paper by a heat roller to melt the toner into the fibers of the paper. As the laser printer does this it real eases the charge with yet another roller.

Ultimately, when the process is in synch there is no muss and no mess. But everything needs to be timed just right. In the end, there is a warm static free piece of paper with all the words fit and unfit to print.

Wedding Invitations in the Corporate Office Environment

By sizes paper, 8 January, 2010, No Comment

Somewhere between climbing the corporate ladder and starting your own business, you managed to fall in love. If frequent dates and weekends away weren’t enough to fill the gaps in your already busy schedule, getting engaged most certainly took care of any free time you had. However, you don’t have to lose sleep by dividing time between your home life and your business affairs, as long as you keep a healthy balance between the two.

In order to be successful in love, you have to display the same qualities you retain at work. You have to be personable, patient, detail oriented, and attentive to other people’s needs. You have to maintain a persistent attitude that will deem you a champion. Although juggling a full plate is not preferable, there are ways to maintain your integrity and plan a memorable wedding party complete with your business contacts and work colleagues.

Networking Through Your Wedding Invitations

Here’s how rubbing elbows can benefit you outside the workplace:

What better place is there to plug your business than on the front of your wedding invitation? A little harmless self-promotion never hurt anyone! In fact, it may do your company wonders to let your business contacts and work colleagues see a more human side of you.

A corporate logo incorporated onto stationery is a special touch that needs no introduction. Guests will know how much the two of you value your company, and they will undoubtedly find the gesture charming. Building a business takes almost as long as building a sturdy relationship with another person. It won’t come as a surprise to most people that you want to form a union between the two.

The Right Way to Combine Business with Pleasure

When inviting your corporate clients, vendors, customers, and employees to your wedding ceremony and reception, there are a few things to consider:

First and foremost, although you are in a more relaxed setting, always remember to conduct yourself in a professional manner. You may feel stressed out beyond words, but your guests don’t have to know how you feel. Smile and be attentive to your wedding party, and by no means should you come off as pushy or rude to anyone you have invited to the event.

Second of all, monitor your celebrating. Remember the adage, “loose lips sink ships.” Lay off the champagne because it may cause you to say something you will regret in the morning. Keep the event personable, but not too personal.

Last but not least, don’t let work get in the way of you having fun. Although you most likely will talk business with your guests, don’t let it be the only thing you mention throughout the evening. You can always be polite without revealing too many intimate details about your home life.

When writing your guest list, remember that the right kind of invitation can promote your life’s work and introduce your new business partner—your husband or wife – to the people you make contact with daily.

The Importance of Document Scanning Software

By sizes paper, 8 January, 2010, No Comment

Your document scanner cannot do much by itself. It’s the document scanning software that interprets the light information and produces meaningful results. This article first describes the significance of scanning to document management. Then the criteria that determine the features you want in the scanning software is investigated.

Scanning software comes in different flavors, with simple to extensive capabilities. You have to guard against paying for expensive features that you don’t want, and at the same time ensure that the software will meet the needs that you do have.

Significance of Document Scanning (Software)

Document scanning moves paper documents into the electronic workflow by converting them into digital documents. This conversion process typically has two major stages. First, scanning software produces a digital image of the paper documents. Second, any text-character ‘images’ are converted into computer readable text by Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software.

Once the text characters become readable by the computer, it becomes possible to carry out several key document management processes:

Selecting Document Scanning Software

Document scanning software offerings differ in capabilities and cost. Your desktop scanner can most likely scan only single sheets of up to, say, A4 size pages. You have to hand feed each sheet. Heavy duty scanners can accept a continuous flow of automatically fed sheets, of different sizes, and are far more productive. You have to select a scanner that meets your requirements.

Other features of scanning software include:

The more extensive the capabilities, the more expensive the scanning software is likely to be. You have to balance your needs and the cost.
