By sizes paper, 2 December, 2009, No Comment

When you’re preparing for a birthday party for your friend, child, parent, or spouse, you’ll probably find that the costs associated with all that planning can exceed your budget pretty quickly. One way to save money is by creating your own birthday invitations at home. Not only can you save money this way but you can also take the time to pre-print the party details and to create something creative on the cards that will make them truly unique. Supplies You’ll NeedFirst, you’re going to need some printer paper. You can either purchase card stock paper that is blank which you can fold into the appropriate card shape after printing or you can buy blank cards that are ready for printing. The latter has become a very popular option. Of course, most of these blank cards are available via online stationery stores so you’ll have to place your order early. Second, make sure you have sufficient ink for the task, including colored ink cartridges. Be sure to purchase matching envelopes if they do not come with the cards you buy. Having some labels you can use for printing is also a wise idea.Setting Up the Card PrintingMost of the cards or paper you purchase will come with instructions for printing. If not, your best choice is to go into your Publisher program (or similar free software) and select the choice for greeting cards. You should update the paper size information to meet the dimensions of the cards you’ll be using so the printing will appear on the card correctly. Do a few test prints on blank cheap paper first. Using Mail Merge & LabelsTo make your task of sending the invitations easier, you should consider having address labels printed. Then you can just affix the labels to the invitations and/or to the response cards so you don’t have to spend all that time writing out the addresses by hand. To do this, you should follow these instructions:• Choose the “Mailings” option from the tool bar.• Select “Start Mail Merge Process” from the options available in the new tool bar.• Under that option, select the type of document you want to create. In this case, pick “Labels.”• Enter the information about your purchased labels into the new box that opens in the middle of the screen.• Choose “Select Recipients” from the toolbar. You can either access a list you’ve already created, create a new list, or import contact information from your Outlook address book.• Print off the labels. Consider doing a test print on blank paper first to make sure everything lines up correctly before you waste those labels.

A Guide to Buying Office Supply Online for Small Businesses

By sizes paper, 2 December, 2009, No Comment

Buying office supplies for any business large or small is a considerable expense, even more so if you don’t know where to buy or how to save when you can. Consumables such as Inkjet cartridges, paper and in general most office stationery are not just expense, but consumed quickly meaning that as a small business they will eat into your profits. The good news are that as a small business with little red tape and no corporate bureaucracy to deal with, you have a few option when buying office supply online which will help you buy smartly and save.

Let your fingers venture online – Online shopping offers the cheapest alternative to buying from your high street. There are many web only office consumable e-retailers offering fantastic savings as they don’t have any physical shops to support so the savings are passed straight to your pocket.

Always compare prices – While price comparison sites are perfect for buying electronics and other similar goods, they are less effective for comparing office consumables unless you are buying a known brand. Try comparing office supply prices using less traditional sites such as eBay, amazon and even Google products to save.

Buy using cash back sites – When you have decided where to buy, consider buying through one of the many cash back sites. Those free to join sites offer shoppers a percentage of money earned when you purchase goods through one of sites working with them. Normally you will get between 2% to 10% back within 30 days, but offers vary from one site to the other.

Buy using money back credit card – Similar to cash back sites, some credit card deals offer money back when used. Check with your credit card company or research the market to find the best deal. Normally you will be looking to get between 1% to 3% and the guarantees which come by using a credit card

Buy using a discount code – Most e-retailers offer some sort of discount code promotion at times, also know as coupon or voucher code. If you spot that your preferred online shop offers this type of promotion try and find a discount code for the shop using one of the many discount code aggregation sites. Discount codes vary between sites, but are normally between 5% to 10%.

Consider non-branded – When buying branded office supply products, on top of paying for good quality of course, you will also be paying for the name. Because of the nature of consumable office supplies, buying non branded products provided the quality is still there will make sense and help the business save.

Consider alternatives – Perhaps the biggest recurring office supply expense is consistently replacing the office Inkjet cartridges. Smart shoppers already know that Inkjet ink cartridges are costly and many times the price of a printer is low because the price of the original Inks are high. What many shoppers do not know is that remanufactured cartridges and compatible cartridges have made huge step forward in recent years and are now an excellent alternative to the original ink cartridge.

Credit Card Machine Paper: Its Role in the Trading World

By sizes paper, 2 December, 2009, No Comment

Normal 0

It may seem like a credit card machine is of little concern compared to buying the machinery, like a credit card machine for an instance, which is most common tool for a business.

But, imagine this: Twenty people are waiting in line behind the counter because the current customer, who’s already impatient, is also waiting just because the cashier runs out of paper machine in the middle of transaction. Now, that would create a rather not so good impression to your customer, wouldn’t it?

How about chargebacks and cardholder’s dispute cases? Merchants should be able to produce receipts of transactions in cases when there are charges for disputes or chargebacks.

For example, a customer walks in a store and selects several items to purchase. The customer offers his Visa for payment. The merchant then imprints a sale draft and swipes the customer’s card for authorization.

After validation, the customer signs the sales draft and leave the store. Several weeks later, the merchant receives a notice that the sale transaction made is being charged back.

Now, what happened was the customer illegally changed the account number of the card. The account number of the cardholder has been altered and was magnetically embedded in the changed card.

The true cardholder receives a statement and does not recognize the charge coming from the merchant of the store. He then contacts his card-issuing bank and a retrieval request is initiated.

The card information showing on the copy of the sales draft provided by the merchant does not match the information from the card submitted electronically, so the card issuing bank initiates a chargeback.

The merchant from the story can be protected against this type of chargeback provided that the card was not expired, sale was submitted within 30 days of authorization and that the sales draft was signed and the signature matched that of the cardholder.

Sometimes, small things make the work complete. Small things like machine papers can also protect your business from these kind of situations.

How and where will you buy your credit card machine paper?

Check first your credit card processor. The printer paper should fit your processor. Next, check the right grade. Most printer paper follows the standard, so there shouldn’t be too much problem on this.

Printer paper comes along with the printer ribbon or cartridge. You can purchase these supplies in combination package for the price of one.

Stack at least 20 combination packs of these papers on your store so you won’t run short while at work and avoid too often reordering.

Now, the most convenient place to purchase your credit card machine paper is where you purchase your credit card processor.

The distributor has the necessary supplies to keep your equipment operational. If these supplies are not available from the distributor and you are to purchase from other companies, keep in mind the compatibility of the paper and your credit card machine paper.

Starters in the trading industry would most likely buy the needed machines and equipment after getting their loan to start their business.

If you are one of these starters, keep in mind that even small supplies like credit card machine papers have important role in protecting a merchant’s business while still providing quality service to your customers.

10 Great Feng Shui Tips For Your Business Or Home Office to Bring Harmony & Wealth

By sizes paper, 2 December, 2009, No Comment

Most of us spend a lot of time in office for work. Regardless of whether it is in your employer’s office or your home office, the office environment can at times be very challenging. Relationship with your colleagues or business partners is a very important factor to unpleasant office politics.

While you are working hard and smart to be a better employee and making yourself more valued at the workplace you should enlist the help of Feng Shui to enhance your career success. Feng shui is about balancing the chi or energy around your surroundings. By balancing the energy in your environment, your own energy will be in harmony, and you will draw to you, people and opportunities that reflect this balance.

Here are 10 great feng shui tips to help create harmony at the workplace and to make your career advancement smooth sailing:

1. Good Support Behind The Back Of Your Sitting Position

The most important feng shui tips in the office is to make sure that you are seated with a good support behind your back. It is extremely important that your back faces a wall or some solid surface. You must never sit with your back facing a door or windows as this makes you vulnerable to “backstabbing” and “betrayals” in the office. If the back of your sitting position is a window, it is very inauspicious as it represents a lack of support. Close the windows behind you or hang a painting of mountains behind your back to provide you with good support.

2. Clearing The Clutter In Your Office

Clutter like unfinished projects, unused papers, unresolved works, disorganized office stationery and files are extremely bad feng shui to you. Your career will become a mess and you stand no chance of any career advancements. Clutter is like emotional constipation – it bogs you down. By clearing your clutter and arranging your office desk nicely, you create space for new things and your energy and creativity will increase.

3. Choose Your Office Desk In Your Success Position

Place your desk in your success position. Your success position will bring you great success and awesome career advancement in your career. You can know your success position by calculating your KUA number (or Star Number). Our feng shui website teaches you on how to calculate your person KUA number and how to apply feng shui in your work and career to bring great income luck and success. In addition, the ideal placement for your computer and desk is in a position that allows you to see the door of your office. If this is not possible, you can restore good Feng Shui by placing a small mirror on your desk that gives you a clear view of the door.

4. Place A Healthy Small Potted Plant On Your Desk

A plant will bring life into your workspace and will also absorb toxins in the air. My recommendation is to place a Money Plant on your office desk to attract career luck and income luck. The money plant can also help you ward off office politics and unpleasant things in your working environment. A plant on your table is also able to boost you creativity. Research has shown that you will be happier when there is greenery on your table.

5. Avoid Sitting Directly Facing Someone Else

Do try to avoid sitting at a work desk that is directly facing someone else at your opposite. This is bad feng shui as if you are seated in a position where you constantly face another person, there will certainly be accumulation of bad and confrontational Chi enery between the both of you. Consequently, this will definitely lead to conflicts and unpleasant arguments.

6. Do Not Sit Under A Strong Exposed Beam

You will be working under great pressure if there is a structural beam or bright light above where you are working. The bright beam or light will make you irritable and do your work impulsively. One good way to overcome the situation is to renovate the ceiling so that it is flat.

7. Separate Your Workspace In Your Bedroom

Feng shui do not recommend having a workspace in your bedroom as the bedroom is a place of rest. If you must have your workspace in your bedroom, try to partition it off with a screen. You can place a curtain or a screen to separate your work desk with your bed. In feng shui, work and sleep are two conflicting energies: Work is very yang and sleep is very yin, hence both must not mix together. In addition, a relaxing sleep will enhance your work productivity.

8. Display Crystals At Your Work Desk

In feng shui, crystals are great tool to absorb negative energies at work. If you want to avoid office politics and to make sure your career is smooth-sailing, you should display small crystal balls on your desk to ensure that everything goes smoothly at work.

9. Use Only One Door In Your Office

Do use only one door in your office, if there are more, keep them closed. This is because you only want your wealth and money luck to come to you in the only door and will not escape from other doors. Use only one door in your office if you don’t want your money to escape.

10. Carry A Jade Cicada With You

If you want to block off any office politics in the office, buy a jade cicada and carry it in your bags or hide it under your files and documents so that it would not be seen. Jade Cicada is a powerful feng shui tool to help you avoid confrontations and conflicts in the office. It is also able to bring good luck to your working environment.

Intimus SmartFold 2051 Paper Folding Machine Review

By sizes paper, 2 December, 2009, No Comment

Intimus has a terrific selection of paper folding machines and one of their standout products is the SmartFold 2051. This is a machine that’s super easy to operate and it can produce several different fold patterns. It’d be a good selection for any office, school, or other organization that needs a versatile, high-performance paper folding machine. Keep reading to find out more about this great paper folder.

In the past, paper folders were intimidating machines that required a lot of care and feeding. But that’s all changed now with the Intimus SmartFold 2051. This machine couldn’t be easier to use. All you need to do is tell the machine what size paper you’re folding and which folding pattern you need, and it just goes ahead and does it. You don’t need to adjust the fold plates or anything; it is all automatic. The SmartFold 2051 can handle many different sizes and weights of paper, including A4 and letter- and legal-sized, and from 18 lb. bond to 90 lb. index. It can even deal with stapled documents. As for the fold types, there are seven: letter fold, Z-fold, half, double-parallel, gate, short z-fold, and church. There are also 10 programmable slots for other fold types. Indeed, the SmartFold 2150 can give you just about any fold type you could want and it does it quickly. Depending on the paper used and the desired fold, the machine can fold 3,000 to 15,000 sheets per hour. It is also good for high-volume operations. Finally, the Smart Fold 2051′s feed tray can hold up to 500 sheets of paper so you won’t have to constantly feed the machine more paper, which will save you time.

One of the most incredible things about the SmartFold 2051 is the price. It is available for less than $3,200.00, which is a very reasonable price for a machine with this many features. In fact, it is about $500.00 less than most of the other comparable machines on the market, so you’re definitely getting the most bang for your buck with the SmartFold 2051. It is also cool that the machine is USB-compatible. The USB connection enables you to receive software upgrades as well as perform troubleshooting.

One of the SmartFold 2051′s drawbacks is its size. It is an absolutely huge machine, weighing in at over 100 pounds, and measuring two feet wide by four feet long. You’ll definitely have to be sure that there’s enough room in your workspace before buying this paper folder. Another drawback is that the SmartFold 2051 can’t score or perforate paper, which is a feature sometimes found on machines in this class.

There are two other potential weaknesses to this machine that are worth noting. First, this machine is not great at cross folding. We tested its cross folding capabilities (where you fold an already folded document) and found that the fold was not always square. The other potential limitation is that this machine is not ideal for use with high gloss stocks. For that type of application you really need to look at an air feed folder. However, we did have success folding some gloss stocks with this machine by simply turning down the speed.

Overall, the Intimus SmartFold 2051 paper folding machine is impressive, and it would be perfect for almost any setting that needs a commercial-quality paper folder that works really fast. It is great that the machine is so easy to use and offers users the chance to program their own folds into the machine. If your company needs a versatile paper folder, give the Intimus SmartFold 2051 a chance – just make sure you have enough room for it!

To Lease or to Buy Your Large Copier at Your Workplace

By sizes paper, 2 December, 2009, No Comment

In the workplace, you may find that having a large copier is going to be the best choice for your printing and copying needs. However, making that kind of purchase is sometimes beyond the budget of a business owner, especially an owner who is just getting started. Of course, buying outright isn’t the only option when it comes to business equipment. You might want to consider choosing to lease that large copier instead. Below are some advantages and disadvantages to consider.Advantages of LeasingWhen you lease business equipment, the best advantage is that you do not need a large upfront sum of money. You may need to pay a deposit or the first month’s leasing fee right away but that’s a fraction of what you’d have to pay if you went to the store and made the purchase in full.Another advantage is that when you’re leasing the copier is normally delivered to your business for you at no extra cost because the company wants to protect their property. If you purchase the copier otherwise, you may have to pay extra for delivery and set-up.With leasing, you are also normally able to buy a printer because you can spread the costs out over a longer period of time. Plus, you can upgrade at any time during your leasing agreement so if a new and improve model comes out three months after you’ve gotten the copier in your office that won’t be a problem in most cases.Disadvantages of LeasingDespite the benefits listed above, there are some reasons to buy instead of lease. For one, if you lease you’re going to end up spending a lot more money in the long run. The payments may be lower than buying the copier outright but by the end of the leasing period you’ll have more than paid for the unit.Another disadvantage is that you never own the property. In business, that means you can’t include the depreciation on your taxes nor can you count the copier as part of your company’s assets. If anything happens to the copier while it is in your office, you could also be held financially responsible by the leasing company.Repairs: Another ConsiderationBefore you decide whether to buy or lease, you should think about the repair issue. Copiers do have a tendency to breakdown easily – it’s in their nature. Sometimes even small paper jams require a call to technical support. If you’re leasing, you can usually count on quick service from a technician and you may not have to pay anything extra for this service.Final DecisionIf you’re trying to find the middle ground between leasing and buying, consider doing both. Lease a copier you’re considering purchasing so you can try it out on your own. If you like what you see, make the purchase.
